See the exact cost of an NSE/BSE trade — brokerage, STT, exchange charges, SEBI fees, stamp duty, and GST.
Every trade on NSE/BSE involves several government and exchange charges beyond brokerage. Understanding the full cost helps you trade more profitably and avoid surprises.
Securities Transaction Tax (STT) is a government tax levied on stock and derivative trades. For equity delivery, it is 0.1% on both buy and sell. For intraday, it is 0.025% on the sell side only. For F&O futures, it is 0.0125% on sell.
Zerodha charges ₹0 brokerage for equity delivery trades. For intraday equity and F&O, it charges ₹20 per executed order or 0.03% whichever is lower. Other charges (STT, GST, exchange) apply on top.
The breakeven move is how much the stock price must move in your favour just to cover all charges. For intraday trades, this is typically ₹0.5 to ₹2 per share depending on the stock price and lot size.
